Getting to Sylhet
Sylhet's Osmani International Airport (ZYL) has a limited number of international flights, so most travellers from the US connect in Dhaka or a Middle East hub.
Domestic flights between Dhaka and Sylhet are short. Overland travel takes much longer, so flying is popular when time is tight.
One ticket or two?
A single ticket to Sylhet means the airline must rebook you if an earlier flight is late. Two separate tickets can sometimes be cheaper but leave you responsible for missed connections.
If you book separately, allow time in Dhaka for immigration, collecting bags and checking in again.
When to visit
Sylhet is greenest during and after the monsoon, while the cooler months from November to February are drier and more comfortable. Holiday periods see heavy demand from the diaspora.
